Updates to Site |
In the CARS section, added albums from the Meadow Brook Hall Concours d'Elegance 2001 and the Woodward Dream Cruise.
In the CARS section, added pictures from the Gratiot Avenue Cruise and the British Car show - Mad Dogs & Englishmen at the Gilmore Car Museum. I have a few pictures of the Gilmore cars as well as the British cars.
Added alternate menus on Opening page and the pages in the HOMES section. I have some concerns that the javascript applet for the new menu system may not work on all systems. In the CARS section I added links to pictures from the RM Auction held in Novi, Michigan and the Spring Fun on Wheels car show in Ontario, Canada. Although it was spring, the fun was shared with constant rain and drizzle. My feet are just now drying out.
Revamped menu system on Opening page and the pages in the HOMES section. Updated email address on Opening page. Added some additional pictures in the Troy page under HOMES section.
Today I added two more sections to the Travel Area. Both under Germany - Mainz and the Black Forest.
Happy St. Patrick's Day. Well, last night I went out to my good old tir.com site and found it virtually destroyed. Apparently they had a crash and restored data from who knows where. So today I worked on moving my whole site over to tripod.com. I updated the initial page on TIR.com to redirect to the new site when any button is pushed - after that you should stay on the Tripod site. Only drawback to Tripod is that it opens a new little window. Hopefully I got everything moved ok, but if you find errors or issues please email me and I'll work on it. I did have to rename a lot of the photos - Tripod doesn't accept any file names with a space in them.
New site name is http://mdmoder.tripod.com - note that there is no WWW in front of the name.
Also updated the Grand Am link on the links page. The old link had died and I found a new link to put in its place.
Moved Detroit Auto Show Picture section to new server (had exceeded my max on tir.com). Added pictures from Arizona - Thanksgiving 2000 to the travel page.
Added Detroit Auto Show Picture section. Many of the 60 digital pictures I took at the car show.
Added Family Crest picture & large snowman picture to intro page. Also put mouse over picture of me as a senior in high school. Corrected the intro screen not to go the right side of screen on some displays. Added picture of MBG broken gear. Revised the homes & car pages to look a little better on 800 X 600 screen by centering them on the right side of screen.
Fixed reference to my picture. Updated pictures on intro page to reflect winter. Added '57 Cadillac link to '57 Cadillac page in Cars and to Link page. Updated link to 3.4 engine (old link was broken.) Still need to update link to Grand Am which is also broken. Added picture of '59 Cadillac clay to '59 Cadillac page.
Re-wrote introduction, added my picture, added fireplace and fallen leaves picture. Removed convertible and daughters sold car pictures from the opening page. In Troy home section added picture of fireplace.
Added picture of the new patio, trellis and barbeque in the back yard to Troy home section.
Updated the pictures on the homepage for a summer theme - adding the pool picture and our friend the squirrel. The 89 Corsica was sold (finally) - updated the home page and the 89 Corsica page. Added my son's new (first) car to the CARS section.
Updated the pictures on the homepage, updated text on the 2000 Grand Am page - telling the short sad story of missing tires and wheels. Also lowered price on 1989 Corsica for Sale - Now only $1900.
In the frames files for CARS and HOMES, I found a </frameset/> in the head section. I think this was the problem for some users with these links. I sure hope so.
Added a new TRAVEL section, with pictures from my European trips. More additions will be added to this section.
Still have about half the people trying my site unable to get into the CARS or HOMES section. They just come up with a blank screen. Renamed all html file names that had capital letters, spaces and/or more than 8 characters. Also moved the CARS and HOMES files into separate directories. Also fixed an error for the White Lake home link.
Added this update page. Added Update date to status window on main page.
Good news early - a friend emailed back that he could access everything. Still confused about those having problems so I quickly wrote a "non-frame" version of the "Cars" and "Homes" links. Not too pretty, but it should indicate if that's where the problem lies.
Based on the success of running my site from my neighbor's house, I sent out an email to family and a few friends and asked them to evaluate the site. That night I got a reply from one of my brothers that he was having the same problem that my daughter had - can't access the links which go to the framed sections. I'm discouraged.
Went to my neighbor's house to see if the site would run ok there. Everything was working as planned. Still uncertain if any changes have solved problems encountered by my daughter. Populated the links page with URL's. Still need to do more work on this page.
Changed some picture formats to conserve space. Add background images to Cutlass and Grand Am pages. Added 3.4L engine link to Cutlass page. Added picture to 71 Camaro and 64 MGB sections. Added (empty) links page to Main page. Corrected the "home page" button at bottom of 89 Corsica (for sale) page.
Got email from my daughter. Not good, she could only access the "for sale" link, all others returned blank pages. I'm still not sure what the issue is. I changed some file names to see if this would improve things (but later found that it did not). I'm pretty sure her browser can handle frames, but I'll have to check.
Put the site files out on the web. Struggled some with file names I had used. Capitalization can be important. Now I also worry about using long names and compatiability with older machines. Sent the URL to my daughter for her to check out and validate the site before I let more know of its existance.
